Laser Welding Machine Antifreeze Protection
Why should we pay special attention to laser welding machines in winter? Most laser welding machines have a built-in chiller to cool the fiber laser and the handheld laser gun (aka handheld laser torch).
As we all know, water freezes below 0°C (32°F). When water changes from liquid to solid, its volume increases, which can potentially cause the pipes and water tank to burst.
To ensure the laser welding machines operate smoothly during winter, antifreeze can be filled into the chiller.
Recommend using Dow Chemicals, such as Dowthem SR-1, or CLARIANT (Clariant). There are two types of antifreeze suitable for laser systems:
1) Antifrogen® N Ethylene Glycol-Water Type;
2) Antifrogen® L Propylene Glycol-Water Type.
Note: No antifreeze can completely replace deionized water and should not be used continuously throughout the year. After winter, it is necessary to flush the pipelines with deionized water or distilled water and switch back to using deionized water or distilled water as the coolant.
If conditions allow, we still recommend improving the electrical environment to keep the water cooler running continuously or upgrading the cooling water system design to simplify and expedite the daily flushing of the cooling water.
If users do not use the laser welding machine for an extended period during winter, it is necessary to drain the circulating water to prevent freezing damage to the machine.
Note: In order to provide users with a better experience, Chutian Laser chooses to use R410A refrigerant in its chiller, which complies with CE environmental requirements. Additionally, it supports both 50Hz and 60Hz to meet the needs of users in different regions.
For users in cold regions all year round or those who prefer not to bother with filling antifreeze, we also supply an air cooling handheld welding machine. It is more compact and portable compared to traditional models.
