Bonding Preparation of Plastics
The greatest savings potential can, of course, be found in the pretreatment of metals. However, there are also economically and technically relevant areas of application in plastic processing. These “adhesion barriers” can be removed very effectively with the Chutian laser whenever plastic surfaces are contaminated with release agents due to upstream molding processes.
The laser beam cuts through the release agent and removes the top layer of the plastic. This process is particularly suitable and has been used in industry for a long time, for example, for fiber-reinforced polyurethane parts. But pretreatment of CFRP with the Chutian laser also has great potential for application.
Advantages
- Area of up to 80 m2 per hour
For example, when pre-treating polyurethane for adhesive lamination - Area rates of up to 50 cm2/sec.
For example, structural adhesive pretreatment for CFRP
Limitations of the process
The limitations of the process are particularly evident in the conventional activation of plastics, especially thermoplastics. Due to the infrared emission wavelength of the Chutian laser, the activation effect can only be achieved on pigmented plastics.
